EMDR Therapy is an evidence-based, 8 stage phased treatment approach to psychotherapy that helps you to process traumatic memories that are stuck and stored in your mind, body, emotional responses and behaviours. Our brains have a natural way to recover from traumatic memories and events but sometimes they cannot be processed without help to allow normal healing to resume. EMDR kickstarts this process using bilateral stimuation (eye movements and/or tapping) so that the event/s are remembered but the fight/flight/freeze response from the original event/s is resolved.
EMDR is effective for treating:
- PTSD
- C-PTSD (complex/relational/attachment trauma)
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Ruminating
- Addictions
- Negative self-beliefs and behaviours (for example: inner critics, perfectionism, people pleasing, imposter syndrome)
- Body Image Problems
- OCD
- Panic Attacks
- Phobias
